Reset service light oil life indicator dashboard Acura RL

Reset service light indicator, engine oil life, dashboard oil life indicator Acura RL, year: 2005-1010, instructions for manually resetting the trip computer:

Year 2005
Turn ignition to position 2 (do not start engine).
Press the SELECT/RESET button until the oil life displays.
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET button for 10 seconds, until MAINTENANCE RESET displays.
Press the SELECT/RESET button to select OK to reset the display.
Select RESET on the display and press the SELECT/RESET button.
Turn ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
Years 2006-2010
Turn the ignition to position 2 (do not start the engine).
Press the SEL/RESET button on the steering wheel repeatedly until engine oil life is displayed.
Press and hold the SEL/RESET button for more than 10 seconds. The remaining engine oil life reset mode will be shown on the multi information display.
Select RESET by pressing the INFO (▲/▼) button, then press the SEL/RESET button to reset the engine oil life display. The maintenance item code(s) will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100.
Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
*Models equipped with the keyless access system have an engine start/stop button instead of an ignition switch. Pushing start/stop button once without starting engine is equivalent of ignition position 2.

years: 2001-2005

  1. Turn the key to off position.
  2. Press and hold the SELECT and RESET buttons on the instrument panel and turn the ignition to position 2 (do not start the engine).
  3. Hold the SELECT and RESET buttons until the indicator resets, hold for about 10 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

years 2006-2010

  1. Turn the ignition to (II) – do not start the engine.
  2. Press the SEL/RESET button on the steering wheel repeatedly until engine oil life is displayed.
  3. Press and hold the SEL/RESET button for more than 10 seconds. The remaining engine oil life reset mode will be shown on the multi information display.
  4. Select RESET by pressing the INFO (▲/▼) button, then press the SEL/RESET button to reset the engine oil life display. The maintenance item code(s) will disappear, and the engine oil life will reset to 100.
  5. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
  6. *Models equipped with the keyless access system have an engine start/stop button instead of an ignition switch. Pushing start/stop button once without starting engine is equivalent of ignition position 2.

There’s no great ”trade secret” as to how to reset the service indicator lamp on most VW’s, simply refer to pages in the Owner’s Handbook!

For reference of those interested in such matters, but who might not have access to an owner’s manual, this is the procedure to follow:

Note: the Service Reminder Indicator displays 3 messages: OEL, IN 01, and IN 02. These display to alert the driver to follow the items listed under the manufacturer’s service interval.

To reset the message displays, turn the ignition switch on. Press and hold the odometer reset button “A” located below the speedometer. Turn off the ignition while holding the button. “OEL” will display on the indicator. Press and hold the lower digital clock reset button “B” until five dashes appear in the display. If needed, press the odometer reset button until “IN 01” appears and then press the clock reset button until five dashes appear. If needed, press the odometer reset button until “IN 02” is displayed and then press the clock reset button until five dashes appear.

To exit reset mode, turn the ignition switch on and when “IN 01” appears, turn the ignition switch off.

On sum golfs you have to turn the milage odometer

1. To reset MAINT reminder light after engine oil replacement, turn ignition switch to OFF position with odometer showing ODOMETER READING. Turn ignition switch to ON position while holding down trip meter RESET button.

2. Hold trip meter RESET button down for at least 5 seconds until odometer indicates “000000” and MAINT reminder light goes out.
